The top and bottom layers are protective and bit smaller, called Face Veneer and middle layer is bit thicker , called Core Veneer
The term Ply as it refers to plywood, means that sheets of layers are bonded together to create more thicknesses. Some projects wont need thicker plywood.
Each plywood layer is known as wood veneer. The veneer is glued together to create multiple plies. The veneer layer can also have various thicknesses. Depending with regions and climatic conditions, some homes require specific standards for the number of plies especially when using them for external walls or roofing
